We also own and operate over 400 oil and gas wells in Appalachia, and 2,200 miles of gathering system supporting our upstream operations.
PostRock Energy - The inspiration behind the name
In north-central Kansas, rolling prairie land stretches as far as the eye can see. For the early settlers of the prairie, land was their livelihood, and in it they found all they needed to thrive. But, without abundant timber in the region for fence posts, how could they really stake the limits of their claims?
They discovered the solution several feet below the surface in a natural layer of limestone 8 to 12 inches thick and miles long -- perfect for cutting into building blocks and fence posts. Livestock would haul the 350 to 400 pound post rocks to the fence lines to be dropped, heavy end first, into postholes about 15 feet apart.
Our name is thus derived from a part of Kansas history where our operations began and where the majority of our operations remain. Much like the original post rocks of the Kansas grasslands, PostRock is positioned to stand strong for generations, playing an integral role in our communities and creating value for all our stakeholders.
